Collection: Copper Ash Blue

This extraordinary collection of works on heavy, hand-made cotton rag paper traces Anneke Stewart's artistic evolution across decades and continents. Created with Indian ink, the first layers were laid down in Stockholm in 2006, allowing the ink to bleed into the textured paper sourced during her travels in Vienna. Stored for years after her return to New Zealand, these pieces were rediscovered and reworked in recent years with considered layers of acrylic, emerging now as a powerful reflection of her creative journey.

Defined by the interplay of geometric abstraction and painterly expression, the works balance linear architectural elements with fluid, organic forms. Copper accents and earthy tones add depth, while the textured paper creates a dialogue between structure and impermanence, evoking fragmented cityscapes or atmospheric landscapes steeped in memory and time.

These hand-painted pieces, enriched with history and layered intent, are both visually striking and intellectually engaging. Presented in white frames with float-mounted backgrounds, they represent a rare opportunity to own a profound artifact of Anneke’s artistic legacy—an investment in her timeless and evolving body of work.
